I have been working at Buffalo State College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My college is accredited by CIDA, very tight knit, and heavily focused on the education and needs of each individual student. I have learned and continue to learn eons from my department and school- reaching for opportunities and my future dreams with their assistance. #greatidear

    Cons

The only true con is that I wish their were more full-time staff members; a tight knit department comes with the con of being small.

    Advice to Management

It would be fantastic if the department could get expanded- however, as of this year just the opposite happened; it got smaller. It would benefit the students incredibly to have more full-time staff.

I worked at Buffalo State College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great staff, typical bureaucratic slowness (no pressure work environment), great project diversity, benefits, stability and sense of community.

    Cons

Typical bureaucratic slowness, not really the colleges fault.

    Advice to Management

Need a more system-based approached. Some areas of ignored, while some areas were micro-managed.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Buffalo State College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Location is good, colleagues are nice.

    Cons

Over half of the faculty are poorly-paid adjuncts. Most of us make a little over $2400 per course. The courses have too many students in them. We have no say in what goes on. We were promised raises that will not happen. Too many students here are troubled and not in the least but academically-inclined!

    Advice to Management

Dont lie to us, dont keep bringing in students who misbehave and/or dont care about the work. Stop dumping the states trouble-children on exploited adjuncts. Were not baby-sitters or social workers. Theres no time to be following after unmotivated or troubled students playing the cliche miracle-worker teacher just so you can keep their butts in the seats and the tuition $ rolling in. Why should we do that anyway? You make over six figures a year while adjuncts starve.
